Tim Finnegan's Irish Restaurant & Pub has offered to host a fundraiser on Sunday August 19thfrom 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. The Saint Mary's Band is inviting the community to come help them travel to Ennis! The Irish restaurant is providing complimentary food and a variety of Irish music including Jeff Sullivan's guitar and Irish ballads. Community members can participate in a silent auction and have the opportunity to meet band students throughout the afternoon. Saint Mary's is asking in return for donations to support the student's travel expenses. "We're excited to share Irish culture with the community and help these students perform near our roots in Ennis," says Mr. Montgomery. The Saint Mary's Band, under the direction of Carol Mellis, has grown in size and quality in the last 10 years from a 5 member pep band to a 54-piece concert and marching band. A subgroup of the band, the Saint Mary's Drumline provides tremendous energy filled performances at school pep assemblies and other school events. The school has an enrollment of about 500 students with more than 10% of the students participating in the band program. Traveling to Ennis, Ireland marks the first international trip for the band.
